We have one mare, HHR April Foxtail, being exposed to our stallion right now. They have been with one another since Sunday evening, with a mixture of pasture and hand breeding. As they both are black, it will certainly be a much anticipated foaling date early next June 2011. I will certainly keep adding more information about this pregnancy once confirmed.
We may breed our last maiden mare here at Rippling Rock, Milennium's Destiny ("Dixie) yet this month, but it depends on when she shows interest in breeding. She is a very timid mare when it comes to showing any interest in breeding, so it has been really hard to determine her cycle. If she waits much longer, we may postpone breeding her until next year, as a late June foal is not a great sell with a late October weaning date. We will see how things progress. I will give an update in a few weeks.
We will rebreed Fancy, Valentine's dam next year for a 2012 foal. Rosie, our senior mare is being prepped for possible showing by our son in 4H in 2011, so she may not be bred next year. She is the dam our our first foal, Tac who did so well in his recent show debut.

Well, "Valentine" is now about six weeks old, but she is a BIG girl. I had to order the next size figure 8 halter for her, as she has outgrown the suckling size. We have more white hairs popping out on her rump and her face (around her eyes and muzzle) are shedding out to a deep chocolate color. I am not sure if she will become a burnt black or dark brown color like Fancy, her dam. Either way, I am excited to see how much more coat patterning she will have once she sheds out.
We are planning to sell her, so please do not be hesitant to give us a call. We would love to discuss a show home discount, as she really will excel for someone in the show ring. She is exceptional in conformation and disposition. I hope to work on more halter and lead work as her next steps of training. I can easily pick up all four feet without any step away at all. She is extremely inquisitive and calm, just like her sire and dam. I will keep placing updates on her progress here!

Well, Cheyenne and Tac made Rippling Rock Ranch and Tuff Built Legacy proud on Saturday, July 10. After what was about an hour drive to Tully Cross Farm outside of Taneytown, MD, my daughter and I arrived to watch the show. RRR Spectacular ("Tac") and Cheyenne went up against some major competition in the two year old class, including the added "bonus" of mares in the ring with a stallion being handled by a teenage girl. What a fantastic job they both did. Others did not even know he was a stallion until the judge announced it! That was indeed impressive, though I am sure nerve-wracking for Cheyenne. Needless to say, they placed 3rd out of 5 in a class dominated by Cleveland Bays. WOW!!
In the agility class, Tac was exposed to all sorts of new things, and he and Cheyenne navigated the course before anyone else, so there was no opportunity to see what others did with each obstacle. Nevertheless, they came through with a strong 4th place ribbon out of 8 or 9 other contestants. We are so proud of what they have accomplished at their first show, (an open show filled with warmbloods) demonstrating the disposition we focused and hoped to breed for when we cross our stallion, Tuff Built Legacy with our hand-picked mares. Keep watching for more news as they continue to move into the show world together. Way to go!!
